Pat Lamont Crowned 2017 Champion
The 30th Anniversary season came officially to a close celebrating Pat Lamont as the 2017 Champion. At the wheel of his new to him dragster, Pat earned the championship by going deep into the rounds all season long. Congrats Pat on a job well done!
Runner-up to Pat was none other than Chad Lamont. Chad kept the pressure up on his Dad until the last race, but Dad prevailed.
Jeff Torbeck took the number three spot with his hard charging Mopar powered dragster. The Lamonts had the field covered in 2017 but the points chase was as always close as can be; 3rd - 10th place was seperated by only five rounds after a whole season.
There were more awards presented after the Top Ten received theirs. Sponsor of the Year was presented to once again Autometer. To add to his Championship Awards, Pat Lamont was voted Sports Person of the Year. Sandi Mooney was voted Crew Person of the Year. Rosenberry, Chad Lamont, & Mooney Victors at Byron
The 2017 MWSC Season came to an exciting close at Byron. It started with Pat Lamont claiming his second championship over three time champion and son Chad Lamont. Team Lamont led the top ten points handily. Third through tenth place was a real dog fight separated by only 5 rounds.
Saturdays race started with Pat Lamont qualifying #1 with a 8.904. With close racing every round and daylight going away, Lacey Rosenberry singled for the victory. Here final round opponent, Jim Glosson, couldn't make the call as his transmission was wounded.
During the time runs the Annual Loyalty Shoot-out was run. After three rounds of racing it was Pat & Chad Lamont in the final. Chad was victorious over Pat.
Sunday we woke up to a steady rain that caused the races to be cancelled. To determine a winner for the rained out Last Chance Shoot-Out we had a practice tree race. The eight contestants line up in Larry Wasielewskis' trailer to do battle. After time runs and three rounds of competition Tom Mooney was the victor over Brian Reimer.
