BIG SEASON FINALE AT BYRON

The 2014 Season comes to an exciting close on September 20th & 21st at Byron. The points race is as close as ever and will be decided on this weekend. For these final two races the entry fee will be $125 with the extra money going to the finalists. With our normal car count this should be $1,500 to win or more.

Also, taking place during the runs will be the “Loyalty Shoot-Out” which awards the top eight racers who came to the most races a $1,000 purse.

On Sunday, the “Last Chance Shoot-Out” will pay $500 to the winner and $250 to the runner-up. The eight racers in this race are the top eight in points who have not been in a final round. Thanks to Warren Goetsch and Ken Messenger for their support.

Finally, our Big Annual Cook-Out will take place on Saturday after the races. The series will supply pulled pork, burgers, dogs and some liquid refreshments. Everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert. There will be cash awards presented for the best sides and/or desserts. We are in need of tables, grills, and heating pots for the pulled pork. Call Kwas at 708-743-6150 if you can help.

Hope to see everyone out for our last fun filled race weekend!

After a Saturday rain out, heat and humidity greeted the 20 entrants on Sunday.  Qualifying #1 was Jim Glosson with a 5.705 over the 1/8 mile strip.

Continuing the typical close racing this season, Larry Wasielewski took home his second win of the season.  Larry’s final round opponent was Chris Lancaster.  In addition to his share of the winner’s purse, Larry took home the Autometer Gift Certificate and the 50 Over 50 Money from Istmus Engineering.

The Kwas Bros. received the Don’s Auto Parts Best Losing Package Award with .019 first round losing package.

The updated points reflect everyone’s 10 Best Races.  The Byron races should be interesting with the close points battle.
